CCBC to celebrate Earth Week

The Community College of Baltimore County will host a variety of events on its three main campuses during Earth Week, April 18 – 22, 2016.

April 18
  • 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Green Club Information Table and Rummage Sale ($3/bag)
  • 1:15 - 2 p.m. - Presentation on Sustainable Interior Design

April 19
  • 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Green Club Information Table and Rummage Sale ($3/bag)
  • 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. – Green Cleaning Products information table

April 20
  • 12:15 - 1:15 p.m. – “Oasis in Space,” Benjamin Banneker Planetarium, Math and Science Hall
  • 2:30 -4:30 p.m. – Help the Green Club clean up Bull Run Stream! (Meet near campus entrance by bridge along Campus Drive.)

April 21
  • 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Cooking Demo, Café
  • 12 – 12:30 p.m. – Container Gardening, Composting, Barn Theatre
  • 12:30 – 2 p.m. – Film “Just Eat It,” Barn Theatre
  • 2:10 – 2:40 p.m. – Mindful Movement, Quad Lawn

April 22

Art Club Trash to Treasure Projects
  • 11: 30 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Trash Can recyclables census, Barn (outside)
  • 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. – Film “Your Environmental Road Trip,” Barn Theatre

April 21

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. - EARTH DAY FAIR, Community College Center Lobby. Co-sponsored by the CCBC Sustainability Committee and the Office of Student Life.
    • Environmental games/prize drawings
    • “Trash: It is important to See what has become invisible,” continuous slideshow by Kevin Mick,
    • Sustainable Horticulture Table, Horticultural Highlights Tour of the Campus, Plant Sale,
    • Facilities Green Table-what CCBC is doing to reduce its carbon footprint,
    • Veterans Association Clothing Drive/Free School/Office Supplies Table
    • Kill-A-Watt – guess your energy usage, Poster Exhibits, and much, much more.

April 19
  • 1 - 3 p.m. – Trash Clean-up Contest – Competition among student groups, outside. Rain date April 20.

April 21
  • 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. - Trash Sculpture Contest in the Upper Lobby of the College Community Center. The RSVP for intent to participate deadline is Monday, April 11th so people still have time to reserve a spot!
  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. – EARTH DAY FAIR, Quad. In case of rain, event will be held in the Upper Lobby of the College Community Center.

April 22
  • 2 p.m. – Guest speaker Eric Kelly of Charm City Farms, Room 209, Administration Building.
Free and open to the public. Some activities and giveaways are restricted to students.
