Training the next generation of dealership service technicians

Aug 22, 2016

CCBC’s Automotive Technology program has been selected by Fiat Chrysler Automobile, in conjunction with Mopar CAP LOCAL, to join its network of certified colleges for training the next generation of dealership service technicians. Mopar CAP LOCAL is an extension of Fiat Chrysler’s traditional Mopar training program and has been training service technicians to work in Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram truck dealerships since 1984.

With a projected need for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to fill more than 5,500 service technician positions by 2018, they have partnered with the National Coalition of Certification Centers offering a new training model to help meet the projected demand.

According to Roger Tadajewski, executive director of National Coalition of Certification Centers, “The Mopar CAP LOCAL program has quickly become one of the most important and effective workforce development projects in many years.”

CCBC’s Automotive Technology program provides classroom and “hands-on” training in its state-of-the-art facility preparing students for employment as automotive technicians. The program has been awarded full Master Certification in all eight National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence specialty areas.

“The Mopar CAP LOCAL program is consistent with CCBC’s deliberate strategy of formal industry partnership for our broad array of Applied Technology programs,” replied Doug Kendzierski, chairman of Applied Technology in the School of Technology, Art and Design. “We look forward to the addition of these industry standard-bearers to our current lineup of transformative national and international organizations that are working directly with higher education to address urgent workforce priorities.”
