CCBC Essex Men’s Soccer: 2nd Annual Knight’s Men’s Soccer Classic Set to Kick Off Season

Rosedale, MD – The Community College of Baltimore County, Essex Men’s Soccer team will host its 2nd Annual Knight’s Men’s Soccer Classic, Aug.29-30 and feature four Top 15 teams.

On the opening day of matches, the No. 11 Knights will host No. 4 Eastern Florida State College (Cocoa, Fla.) at noon, followed by No. 6 Louisburg College (Louisburg, N.C.) against No. 3 Monroe College (Bronx, N.Y.).

Day two of the classic will pit Eastern Florida against Monroe at 11 a.m. and CCBC Essex versus Louisburg at 1:30 p.m.

“We have four great teams playing what is going to be arguably the best NJCAA men’s soccer tournament in the country,” said Knights head coach Joe Fiedler. “I’m really happy with the teams coming in to play. It’s going to challenge my student-athletes, as they want to play the best teams. We’re looking forward to getting started.”

Team Tidbits

CCBC Essex – Finished 2014 season 18-5-0 (.783); captured its third straight NJCAA Region XX Championship; made an NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship appearance for the second consecutive season.

Monroe College – Finished 2014 season 12-4-2 (.722); 2014 NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship national runner-up, losing narrowly to Tyler Junior College 2-1; won fourth NJCAA Region XV Championship in five years.

Eastern Florida State College – Finished 2014 season 13-3-1 (.794); NJCAA Region XIII runner-up; outscored opponents 83-11; 10 student-athletes with more than 10 points.

Louisburg College – Finished 2014 season 20-2-2 (.875); NJCAA Region X Championship; second most goals (93) and assists (92) in NJCAA Division I.
