Become a valuable member of a health care team!

Medical Front Office (MFO) staff performs and coordinates the administrative activities of a medical office whether it is a physician, clinic, hospital or other medical facility workplace. They store, retrieve and integrate information for dissemination to staff, patients and clients. MFO personnel often register patients, schedule appointments, process communications, and enter data into Electronic Health Records systems. Students will be prepared to take the national certification exam to become a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA).

AHL 929 - Certified Medical Administrative Assistant

Medical Administrative Assistant, also known as Medical Receptionist, serves patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling appointments; maintaining records and accounts. They perform routine administrative tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. Textbook required. 


Prerequisite: Medical Terminology for Health Occupations.

VOB 029 - Professional Preparation for Health Care

Become more marketable in the health care field by learning how the transferable skills you already possess can easily be applied to a new and exciting health career. Prepare resumes, compose cover letters, and master the skill of job interviewing.

AHE 805 - CPR for Health Care Providers

Participate in an overview of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, Title II Administrative Simplification (HIPAA-AS). Topics include privacy, confidentiality, security, patient rights, covered entities, business associates, protected health information (PHI), and penalties. No textbook required.
