Network Technology and Cyber Security

Success in the dynamic field of network technology demands a well-rounded student, and CCBC’s Network Technology programs rise to meet the challenge.

CCBC emphasizes technical skills as well as skills to enable our students to articulate and implement thoughts and ideas. Our students can attain certificates in networking and computer- related technologies including Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE), Cisco (CCNA), CompTIA (A+, Network +, Security+), Linux (RHCT) and information technology support.

The Associates of Applied Science degree in network technology prepares our students to work with the latest technologies including Windows and Linux servers, network security, Cisco technologies, wireless systems, Voice over IP, as well as other skills necessary for the network professional.

Students are our first priority in the network technology programs at CCBC. We want to help guide you toward a rewarding future.

Programs

Cisco

CCBC is a Cisco Networking Academy offering degree and certificate options. Both are designed to prepare students for Cisco certification (CCNA) and careers in computer networking.

The combination of these credentials will open doors to a new career by ensuring that students have the knowledge and skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot Local and Wide Area Networks using Cisco routers, switches, and other data communication equipment.

The A.A.S. degree in Network Technology with a concentration in Cisco networking enables students to easily transfer to select four-year academic institutions.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)

The purpose of the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification, is to prepare the student to work as an entry-level network technician, network administrator, and/or network engineer.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to install, configure, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot a Microsoft-based local area network and related services.

Using leading-edge technology, students will:
  • Learn the theory and principles of data communications
  • Perform hands-on exercises in which they will install workstation and server operating systems; configure network communication protocols (e.g. TCP/IP); install network services (e.g., DHCP, DNS, Active directory); setup user and group accounts; implement security (e.g., firewall and router configurations); implement fault tolerant disk systems; enable Internet connectivity; optimize system performance; and, most importantly, troubleshoot common networking problems.
