Policy on Transfer of Credits

Transfer of credits for General Education Coursework:

The OTA program mandates that all general education coursework must be completed with a “C” or better in order to be transferred and credited. Thus, a letter grade of a “C” or better must be earned in English 101, English102, Psychology 101, Biology 220, Biology 221, Psychology 103, Math 153, CINS 155, Sociology 141, Speech 101 and Health 101. If a student earns a grade below a “C” in any of the above mentioned courses the student will need to repeat the course before the OTA program will allow the student to be eligible to enroll in Level II fieldwork. This policy holds true for coursework completed either at the Community College of Baltimore County or completed at another institution.

Transfer of credits from another Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant program:

On occasion a student from either an Occupational Therapy program or another Occupational Therapy Assistant program requests a transfer into the CCBC Occupational Therapy Assistant program. The program director of the CCBC Occupational Therapy Assistant program will meet with each student and review coursework that is being requested to be transferred into this program. The program director will attempt to “match” coursework and provide credit where possible. However, any coursework which involves Level I fieldwork (physical dysfunction, psychosocial dysfunction, geriatrics and pediatrics, at minimum) must be repeated in its entirety in the CCBC Occupational Therapy Assistant program. This is to ensure that the transfer student is a safe practitioner, understands and can function in the role of an occupational therapy assistant in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area.
