Become A Partner in an Exciting Future

CCBC, with the help of auto industry partners, has launched a campaign to raise $500,000 from businesses and individuals to make possible a $1.5 million renovation and expansion of the current Automotive Technology complex. The college has committed to contributing $1 million to the cost of the project. The expanded Automotive Technology Training Center at CCBC will include new bays, classrooms and labs.

CCBC's Impact and Results

  • The Automotive Technology Program is undergoing a $1.5 million expansion and renovation to meet exacting automotive industry standards.
  • CCBC is the only community college in Maryland with manufacturer-specific technician programs (Ford ASSET, General Motors ASEP, and Toyota T-TEN).
  • The college maintains a unique private/public partnership with manufacturers, dealers and the automotive industry.
  • More than 300 students per year are enrolled in Automotive Technology courses.
  • CCBC provides an on-site training and recruitment program for all Maryland high school Automotive Technology programs.
  • The college's Contract Training Program offers innovative and flexible continuing education classes.
  • The Hybrid Training Center will be expanded as part of the campaign.
  • CCBC is slated to be a future education and internship site for a fourth manufacturing partner.

For more than 25 years, the Community College of Baltimore County has had one of the best manufacturer-specific Automotive Technology programs in the region.

Why is the Project Necessary?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there are currently 60,000 high-skilled technical jobs unfilled in the automotive industry. CCBC will prepare students at every level - from high school to college and beyond - to fill some of the estimated one million new high-tech automotive technician and management jobs that will be needed by 2016.
