CCBC Dundalk Earns Long Awaited Victory 1-0 Win Over Cecil Breaks
Winless Streak
September 30, 2002 - CCBC Dundalk's Men's Soccer team
defeated Cecil Community College on Saturday afternoon ending the
team's winless streak at three games. The Lions lost in overtime
earlier in the week to the College of Southern Maryland. The team
traveled to North East, Maryland Saturday with hopes of ending a
frustrating run of overtime games. Their previous three contests all
ended in extra periods - two as losses and one as a tie. While Head
Coach Ben Bays stressed to his team how well they were playing
throughout the tough stretch, the frustration was catching up with
some student athletes. Saturday's win lifted team spirit. Last Tuesday,
the Lions lost a heart breaker in the second overtime 1-0 to the
College of Southern Maryland. That same night, the team learned that
sophomore defenseman, John Brooks, would be out for several weeks
with a knee injury. Spirits were low following the loss until Saturday's
victory. This week, the Lions will travel to Anne Arundel Community
College in Arnold, Maryland on Wednesday (October 2) and then play
two home games at CCBC Dundalk's Stadium field. On Friday (October
4), Dundalk hosts Howard Community College at 6:00 PM and next Sunday
(October 6), the Lions will welcome Potomac State College of West
Virginia for a 1:00 PM afternoon contest. For game results, visit the
