Program Description
The Accounting program of study prepares students to find entry-level
jobs in accounting offices of industry, business, and governmental
agencies. In this program emphasis is placed on accounting principles as
they are applied in business settings. With further study for a
bachelor's degree, graduates of this program can prepare for the C.P.A.
examinations.
In addition to possessing a basic knowledge of data processing,
graduates of this program should be able to:
-
perform bookkeeping and entry-level accounting work through the
General Ledger.
-
prepare financial statements and other managerial reports.
Graduates should expect to find employment as accounting clerks, accounts
receivable and accounts payable clerks, and paraprofessionals in
accounting offices.
Students who plan to transfer to a four-year college should find out
what courses those institutions require. Certain specialized courses may
not transfer to some four-year colleges. Students should consult
advisers for transfer information.
