The information and certification requirements contained in these
webpages were obtained from the Maryland State Department of Education
(MSDE) along with the collaborative efforts of the Teacher Education
Faculty on the three main campuses of CCBC. It is hoped that this will
aide current individual teachers identify courses they need to attain or
maintain their certification, and as a resource to pre-service teachers.
Determining Individual Certification Requirements:
View the
Program Descriptions to review and list courses you have completed and
to identify specific courses you still need in order to complete the
requirements. Plan your schedule by noting when you plan to enroll in
specific courses. It is best to contact someone at MSDE to review your
transcripts in order to prevent any mistakes later on.
Course Locations:
Courses to meet certification requirements
for teachers are offered at the CCBC Catonsville, 800 South Rolling
Road, CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville
Boulevard, Owings Mills Center, 110 Painters Mill Road, and the Hunt
Valley Center, 11101 McCormick Road. Learning at CCBC goes beyond the
traditional classroom as well. Students can take advantage of the
following educational options: telecourses, online learning via the web,
self-paced learning programs, distance learning, and weekend college.
Course Schedules:
Courses are conveniently offered in
mornings, late afternoons, evenings, on weekends, and via the internet.
For specific courses, consult the appropriate semester's Schedule
of Courses for specific days, times, and locations.
How to Get Started:
All students are required to complete an Application
for Admission. Students are then screened in the Counseling Center
regarding their placement testing needs. Students who are required to
take a placement test(s) will be directed to the Testing Center
location. When completed, students discuss the test results with a
counselor/advisor and are advised to consult with a Teacher Education
faculty member for assistance with course selection focusing on
individual career goals. Students may then register for their classes.
Finally, students can consult with the Financial
Aid Office regarding options and opportunities related to financial
assistance.
