Workforce Development

The Workforce Development department helps students increase skills or acquire new skills. Some courses help students earn and maintain licensure and certification. Through individual courses and customized contract training, workers and their businesses can be competitive in the marketplace.

This department supports the continuing education programs of CCBC’s School of Health Professions.

Public Service provides courses to local, state and federal government workers and to public schools. Courses in security, safety and justice are also offered for businesses and individuals. This department supports the continuing education programs of CCBC’s School of Justice.

Within the School of Applied and Information Technology, Continuting Education provides technical training courses including:

Apprenticeship programs help men and women to enter the workforce. The college partners with area organizations which deliver structured three-, four- and five-year training programs for people interested in the construction, manufacturing, or utility sectors including:

An apprenticeship is offered to the career-driven student who must be assessed and selected by an individual apprentice program sponsor, approved by the Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Council. Upon completion of the program, an apprentice receives a journey certificate as well as college credit toward an associate degree at CCBC.

Commercial Vehicle Training offers both supervisor-level coursework for managers and CDL-A and CDL-B license training for men and women interested in transportation careers.
