Program Description:

Graduates of this program may find employment as air traffic control specialists in airport control towers, terminal radar control centers, and air route traffic control centers or as flight service specialists in Flight Service Stations (FSS). Air traffic control specialists guide pilots to their destinations and are responsible for the safe and orderly flow of aircraft in congested airspace. Flight service station specialists assist pilots in flight planning by providing air traffic and weather information and by disseminating important route and airport notices.

Most of these positions are with the federal government, and individuals must pass a Civil Service examination and meet specified physical criteria in order to qualify. Credits in this program transfer successfully to most four-year degree programs, however, acceptance of transfer credits is at the discretion of each institution. Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as prerequisites are met. Some courses are offered in alternate semesters. This program will include numerous “hands-on” visits to nearby air traffic control facilities.

This program is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The attainment of this accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the Business Studies Department meet the rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP.
