*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, goes into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college in the spring 2010 semester (meaning you have not previously successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for this degree to 64-66. PLEASE NOTE: If you are new to college and completed one or more credit courses successfully at CCBC in the fall 2009 semester, you are ENCOURAGED but NOT REQUIRED to take ACDV 101 in the spring 2010 semester.
Program Description:
The photography and imaging program prepares students for positions in commercial photography studios, in-house imaging departments, portrait/event studios, industrial photography departments, commercial processing labs, photojournalism and multimedia production companies.
Graduates may seek employment as digital imaging specialists, commercial studio assistants, wedding/event photographers, portrait photographers, photojournalists, industrial/forensic photographers, freelancers, photo lab printers/processors, retail lab technicians and in photographic sales.
Students who select this curriculum and plan to transfer to a four-year college or university should consult with the program coordinator or an academic advisor. Many courses will transfer, but certain specialized courses may not.
Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:

understand camera types and their respective uses;

produce high quality color and black and white digital/photographic prints;

describe and use digital image capture devices;

use digital image editing software/hardware;
-
understand color theory and processes;
-
mount photographs for presentation;
-
understand and operate studio lighting equipment;

understand and use professional portrait techniques;
-
describe sensitometry and characteristic film curves; and
-
develop and present a creative professional portfolio.
