Computer-Aided Design for Manufacturing Design
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is the use of specialized computer hardware
and software to generate drawings used in the architectural, civil,
engineering, and mechanical and other disciplines. Virtually everything
that is constructed or built today is first designed on a CAD system.
Although many professional engineers and architectures do their own CAD
work, there are still many career opportunities for drafters with an
Associate Degree or a specialized certificate.
CCBC Catonsville is the leader in CAD education in Maryland, and has
developed the largest training facility of its kind in the State. The
CAD ATC at CCBC Catonsville is a fully equipped training environment
with approximately 60 micro-based workstations to provide hands-on
training for the technical knowledge demanded in industry today. We have
been recognized by Autodesk as a Premier Authorized AutoCAD Training
Center (ATC), for many years. The CAD Program is staffed by professional
educators experienced in the use of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other
design and manufacturing software applications. To provide a
comprehensive system of support for the community, training is offered
in AutoCAD, 3DS Max, MicroStation, and ArcView GIS. Students completing
CAD courses and programs go on to find employment as CAD operators,
drafters, designers and engineering technicians.
