Program Description:
Histotechnicians assist pathologists, physicians, and scientists in preparing tissues for microscopic examination. This program prepares graduates in the essential skills, techniques, and specialized competencies required for successful employment as a histologic technician.

The Histotechnician program at Harford Community College is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination given by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

This program is articulated with Harford Community College. Students complete all science and general education requirements at CCBC. The clinical training component of the program will be provided on the Harford Community College campus and at various clinical sites throughout the metropolitan area. Students participating in this program will transfer credits to Harford Community College and must graduate in accordance with the accreditation requirements of the Histotechnician program. The program is designed so that students are required to make a minimum number of trips to the Harford campus, generally not more that 4 or 5 for the entire clinical portion of the program. Students may apply for admission to the program and to Harford Community College on-line.
