LPN to ADN Transition
Upward Mobility Nursing Program

(Offered at CCBC Essex only)

Application Deadlines:
Admission into the LPN to ADN Transition course is competitive. Applications should be completed by the last Monday in January for best consideration.

Prerequisites for application to the Upward Mobility option are a Maryland Licensure as an LPN, graduation from a school approved for articulation and/or successfully passing an approved placement exam.

In addition, the student must complete the General Education requirements listed here. Before graduation, the remaining General Education requirements are required.

NOTE:
BIOL 110 may be a prerequisite for BIOL 220. The option to challenge or receive a waiver for BIOL 110 is available. Students planning to enter the nursing program should address this alternative with an academic advisor, case manager, or counselor. 

NOTE: Microbiology (BIOL 230) must be taken within 6 years of admission to transition course, NURN 210 or concurrent with NUR 210.

Program Description:
The LPN to ADN Upward Mobility program option offers a unique opportunity for qualified licensed practical nurses to enter the Nursing program with advanced standing once admission and General Education requirements have been met.
A seven-credit LPN/ADN Transition course is offered to qualified LPN's. An LPN who earns a grade of "C" or higher in this LPN/ADN Transition course and completes General Education prerequisites is able to enter the CCBC Nursing program with advanced standing and receive academic credit for the first year of the Nursing program.
