English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Are you ready to improve your English skills?
The non-credit ESOL program offers classes that can help you learn to better listen, speak, read and write in English.

ESOL CLASSES FOR BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE
These classes will help students learn English language skills for life, work, and civic concepts.
Classes are 10 weeks/60 hours. Student book and workbook are not included.

ESOL Classes for Beginning*

ESOL Level Intro -- Life Skills
This very low beginning course starts with basic English for life and work.

E SOL Level 1 -- Life Skills
This low beginning course introduces simple English for life and work.

ESOL Level 2 -- Life Skills
This high beginning course improves simple English for life and work.

ESOL Classes for Intermediate*
Clases para Intermedio

ESOL Level 3 -- EL Civics
This low intermediate course continues to develop English language skills and introduces civics concepts.

ESOL Level 4 -- EL Civics
This intermediate course continues to develop English language skills and builds on civics concepts.

ESOL Level 5 -- EL Civic Engagement
This high intermediate course continues to develop English language skills and extends civics concepts to civic engagement.

To register, students MUST attend one of the WALK-IN ESOL PLACEMENT & REGISTRATION LOCATIONS to sign up for ESOL Life Skills and El Civics classes.

  • NO CLASS Cost (Student book and workbook are not included)
  • These classes are supported by grant funding from Maryland Departmen t of Labor, Licensing and Regulation(DLLR)

ESOL Advanced Classes Continuing Education (Tuition/Non-Credit)

These non-credit courses are for advanced level non-native English speakers. Students registering for these Advanced ESOL courses are not required to come to an ESOL registration session. Classes fill up quickly, so call now to enroll. Students are registered according to the date their tuition payment is received.

ESOL English for Business Communication
This course is designed to assist high intermediate to advanced level non-native English speakers improve communication skills in the field of business. Students will learn how to better establish and maintain business relationships. Topics to be covered include language for meetings, presentation, collaborations, negotiations, and social interactions.
Courses are 10 weeks/60 hours.

This course will help non-native speakers, who have above a high intermediate level of English, improve their language skills. Topics include: specific strategies in listening, speaking, reading, grammar, vocabulary development, and writing.

Develop the ability to be better understood. Designed for non-native English speakers who have above a high intermediate level of listening and speaking skills. Topics include: techniques to improve vowel and consonant sounds, syllable and sentence stres, intonation patterns, and speaking style.
Classes are 5 weeks/60 hours.
