Special Events and Programs
Emerging Scholars
The Community College of Baltimore County celebrates the success of developmental students by holding a special ceremony on each of the campuses called Emerging Scholars. Emerging Scholars are students who have completed developmental courses in at least two different subject areas and have completed at least 15 credits with a 3.0 average or better. The success of these students is recognized each year at a special event featuring music, guest speakers, refreshments, and the awarding of certificates. Family members are invited.
McPhail Scholars
The McPhail Scholars Program is a special learning community at the Catonsville and Dundalk campuses of The Community College of Baltimore County. The program focuses on giving underrepresented students a unique introduction to the "college success" process. The 5-week program consists of courses that will prepare students for college reading and writing. The program provides the best student support services that CCBC has to offer, including peer mentoring, learning assessment, tutoring, orientation and social activities. For more information you can call the Office of Multicultural Affairs at 410-455-6138.
