Early Alert Participation for Online Courses

Early Alert for Online Courses

A 2004-2005 Cabinet level objective. Each online course that has an average
success rate for Fall and spring semesters significantly below the college success
rate will be required to participate in Early Alert. Although we have experienced
phenomenal growth in our online courses, there is a 12% gap in the success rate
for online and traditional, face-to-face courses. Faculty participation in the Early
Alert Program is meant to address this gap.

Early Alert is a program that supports the early notification of students who are
experiencing difficulties as early as the third week of classes. Our ability to
identify and assist struggling students greatly increases the chances of those students
having a successful academic experience at CCBC.

In December, each instructor will receive notification about their participation
along with the scheduled Early Alert training sessions. Those unable to attend training
will need to make arrangements with the Early Alert Coordinator on their campus.
