Acceptance into the Honors Program

Students may enter the honors program through

·faculty recommendation - instructors may recommend students who demonstrate outstanding academic ability; or

·application review - the Honors Program extends an invitation based on the academic record of a student applying for admission to the College.

In considering a student for the Honors Program, attention will be given to a high verbal ability. Applicants may be asked to submit a writing sample and demonstrate skills that qualify for placement in English 101. Additionally, students seeking entrance into the program need to have one of the following:

·High school grade point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0

·SAT scores of 1000

·College quality point averages of at least 3.25 after completion of at least nine credit hours

·Faculty recommendation and/or approval by the Honors Director
