WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE INJURED ON THE JOB

  • Immediately report the injury to your immediate supervisor
  • In cases of severe or serious injury go to the closest hospital's emergency room
  • Go to one of the Concentra Medical Center Clinics.
  • You may be asked by Concentra to call the Baltimore County Claims Management Unit in order to generate a Supervisors Accident Investigation Report and to formally file the claim.
  • The Concentra Physician/Physician's Assistant will treat you and will advise you in writing regarding your ability/inability to work. Take this report to your supervisor.
  • Schedule all follow-up treatment(s) and/or therapy before or after normal working hours.
  • The Baltimore County Worker's Compensation Claims Management Unit determines the compensability of the claim, manages the medical care the employee receives, pays the medical benefits and authorizes Accident Leave.

If Claim is Determined Compensable:

  • You will be paid in full by CCBC for the first 90 calendar days and will be placed on OJI (On-the-Job Injury) leave, which will not be deducted from your leave balances.
  • Any payments made by Worker's Compensation which duplicate payments already made by the College will be retained by the College.
  • You will be paid OJI time for a maximum of 90 calendar days or until your release to return to work if less than 90 calendar days.
  • After 90 days you will be paid by Baltimore County at the state-mandated compensation amount.
  • If you are out for 90 days contact Mary Livingston at 443-840-4282.
  • You may elect to use allowable leave, if available to supplement the difference between the state-mandated compensation amount and your regular earnings.
  • If you terminate your employment with the college and are indebted to the college for advanced disability pay you must reimburse the college for the amount of indebtness.

If Your Claim is Determined to be Non-Compensable:

  • The amount of time used will be deducted from your available leave balance.
  • If no leave is available you must reimburse the college for all leave used.
  • If you are out for 5 days you will be placed on FMLA, contact Mary Livingston.
  • Contact the Worker's Compensation Claims Management Unit regarding any medical bills related to your accident, incident or illness.
