Why Hire a Student Intern?
It may be difficult to judge how an employee will work out at
your organization, from only a resume and interview. An
internship offers you a chance to see how a student functions
in your work environment.
Internships increase the pool of potential employees in your
field because they give students the chance to try out their
career choice to see if it is the right fit for them. If their
experiences is good, they will be movitated to finish their
education and to consider a job with your firm.
Our interns have already completed coursework in their major.
They can contribute to your firm and bring new ideas.
You will have increased name recognition on campus through
student and faculty communication channels.
What Kind of Interns Does CCBC Offer?
We have students seeking internships in the following majors:
Do You Have to Pay an Intern?
We strongly encourage employers to compensate interns. Most
community college students work, and may have to give up another
job to participate in an internship.
Also, if students want college credit for their internship they
have to register in an independent study course and pay for it.
Employers can offer hourly wages, stipends, and/or cover the cost
of the independent study course.
What are the Employer's Responsibilities?
Because this is a learning experience for students we ask that
you ensure that the student gets a real experience of career
empolyment in your type of company or organization.
We ask you to complete an evaluation form, that we will send
you, at the end of the internship.
Employers should contact the internship coordinator if problems
or concerns arise during the internship.
