This area provides hardware and network support services for the CCBC.
Included are: all desktop PC’s and associated equipment, local area
networks to interconnect the equipment within a functional area,
building-based local area networks to link parts of campuses and the
wide-area networks that link the three main campuses and the remote
locations at Hunt Valley and Owings Mills. Connections to the Internet
are centralized and support is provided to the 152 student PC labs and
approximately 5,000 PC desktops and 1,100 printers connected to the
system.
The department has significant staff presence on the three main campuses
with Help Centers available at those locations to support faculty, staff
and the administration. PC and network troubleshooting and installation
services are provided locally as well.
Administrative systems hardware is supported from the central computer
center located on the Catonsville campus and all processing associated
with student registration, grade processing, finance, general ledger,
payroll, etc., is located there.
