CCBC Catonsville Library & Media Services
MISSION
The Library supports CCBC’s transition from the teaching to the learning
paradigm, which highlights the critical importance of libraries in the
learning process. The Library develops, organizes, and preserves
collections for optimal use and provides links to information resources.
As a gateway to information and knowledge, it supports students of
various learning styles. (See our Learning

VISION
The CCBC Catonsville Library is the center of the integrated information
resources, technology and services necessary to foster a premier
learning centered community.
GOALS
1. Educate users to be productive and active citizens able to locate
information and use it effectively in all aspects of their lives.
2. Provide programs and services planned, in consultation with our
campus community, to be responsive to the individualized needs of our
diverse population and to be the best possible, given available
resources.
3. Provide a well-organized collection of books, periodicals,
audiovisual and electronic media which meets the instructional needs of
students, faculty and staff in order to support the courses, programs
and degrees offered.
4. Develop, utilize and maintain information technology systems to
enhance access to the dissemination of information and serve as the
campus gateway to global information resources.
5. Reinforce an awareness of the integral role of libraries in
education, by collaborating with faculty and staff in the use of
informational resources and new technologies.
6. Complement and augment the resources found across the college and
cooperate with other institutions to share resources and enhance access
to information.
7. Provide and maintain physical facilities, which are adequate to house
the collection and provide space for users to be able to fully use the
services and materials within the library.
8. Offer students, faculty and staff an environment that promotes
inquiry, research and intellectual growth.
