Components of the Internet:
-
World Wide Web - The web with its hypertext information,
graphics, and interactivity is the part that most people are
interested in using. The web provides a single interface in which you
can access a variety of information in different
formats. Most web pages use the hypertext protocol but most of the
other protocols (e-mail, ftp, gopher, newsgroups, list serves, telnet,
chat) are available on the world wide web.
-
Electronic Mail (E-Mail) - It allows you to send electronic
messages to other Internet users both locally and world wide.
-
You need an e-mail address to send or receive electronic messages
-
An e-mail address is usually composed of part of a persons name
than an @ (at)symbol and the server that sends or delivers the

and read articles on a wide variety of subjects. They are a global
electronic bulletin boards in which millions of computer users
exchange information on a wide range of topics. These topics could be
either academic or recreational topics. They do not send messages to
your e-mail address but the messages are stored in a central location.

another user currently logged in and type a conversation.

communicate with each other on hundreds of channels. There are
many specific topics on these channels. You must use IRC software
program to access this chat.
