Research Project Spring 2005 Psychology 105 The research
project has two parts, a group research project and an individual
article review project. They are related!
Research Project & Presentation (Group) (50 points)
Small groups will be formed early in the semester. Each group will
choose a problem/topic related to the course for further study. Each
member of the group will be responsible for using existing professional
literature in psychology/sociology journals to survey what has already
been written about the topic (See Article Reviews). The group will
develop a hypothesis and choose the most appropriate research design to
study the problem/topic. The group will then carry out their research
project (utilizing students and staff from CCBC as subjects) and collect
and analyze their data. Finally, each group will present their research
project data and conclusions to the class. Each member of the group will
receive the same grade on the Group Research Project & Presentation. At
the end of the semester, group members will have an opportunity to
reflect on their own functioning, and each other member’s functioning in
the group.
3. Article Reviews (Individual) (100 points)
Each individual student is responsible for utilizing the databases owned
by CCBC-Dundalk to find at least 3 articles related to the problem/topic
your group is studying (see #2). (Group members must each find different
articles). Articles must come from professional journals in
psychology/sociology, and should be not more than 5 years old. Students
will read and prepare an article review of each article in a format
given in class. Students will also prepare a Title Page and Reference
List in APA style, which will include each article reviewed. (See links
on CCBC-Dundalk Library Webpage under “Assignments”.
