Adam Health Illustrated Encyclopedia from Medline includes over 4,000 articles about diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, and surgeries. It also contains an extensive library of medical photographs and illustrations.

Aetna InteliHealth- Includes a Medical dictionary and consumer health information on diseases & conditions, healthy lifestyles, and a drug information on medications with educational leaflets, photographs of pills and more from the NIH.

familydoctor.org From the American Academy of Family Physicians, this site offers patient education documents for common medical concerns and conditions. Information is regularly reviewed & updated. Sections of the site include Health Info Handouts, AAFP Family Health Facts, Drug Information, Herbal and Alternative Remedies, FP Web Directory, and Self-Care Flowcharts.

The Virtual Hospital- A Digital Library of Health Information-Provides educational content for patients, health care providers, and students interested in the health sciences. It includes textbooks, pamphlets, and images at both the professional and lay levels. Maintained by the University of Iowa.

Mayo Clinic Health Oasis -Easy to find health information. Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy - Well-known medical diagnostic handbook for professionals which is search-able, and browsable by chapters. Merck Manual of Medical Information - Home Edition full-text, search-able consumer edition written in everyday language for non-health care professionals.

HealthWeb - Organized access to evaluated noncommercial, health-related, Internet-accessible resources. Provided by the health sciences librarians. Its selectivity, make it a better starting points for health related Internet sites.

NOAH: New York Online Access to Health is a unique collection of state, local and federal resources selected by editors with consumers in mind. Searchers may select from a list of Health Topics which are then narrowed to include definitions, care and treatment, and lists of information resources.

CAPHIS Web Sites You Can Trust - The Consumer and Patient Health Information Section (CAPHIS) of the Medical Library Association refers healthcare consumers to these resources.
