Using the Web for research

The World Wide Web can provide a wealth of good resources. A search on the Web can also return inaccurate, outdated, erroneous information and unreliable sites. You can start with evaluated sites available from directories such as Librarians' Index to the Internet.

If you go to a search engine such as Google, or another search engine, remember that the advanced search capabilities allow for more focused searching.

Always evaluate web pages! Use this form: Criteria for Evaluating Web Documents to help.

A few last important words...

When you prepare your list of sources, go to our APA Citation Style Guide.
