HOW TO FIND "REAL" ARTICLES "ON THE INTERNET"
SEARCH A SUBSCRIPTION DATABASE
The Essex Library subscribes to various electronic databases
which contain magazine and journal articles. These articles also appear
in paper format, so they are NOT Internet sources. However, a
computer version is available to CCBC students, faculty, and staff from
the library home page. Click on the
heading for Find
Articles on your topic, then select a database appropriate for the
topic being researched.
GO TO A WEB SITE
Articles from the following web sites also appear in paper format, and
are NOT Internet sources.
Some journals have their own web sites, which may include sample issues
of the print publication. Use a search engine, such as Google,
and type in the name of the journal to find its site.
PLEASE
NOTE: COPYRIGHT vs. PUBLIC DOMAIN
There are few web sites with entirely free access to articles that have
been previously published. This is because authors and publishers want
to be paid for their work. They have a copyrighted interest in articles
which have appeared in magazines and journals. In the case of the
subscription databases, the library pays for usage. Material on the
Internet which is available without charge to anyone using a computer is
in the public domain.
