Ceremony Honors Mortuary Science Industry Leader
The Catonsville Community College Foundation and Alumni Association
recently hosted a memorial tree planting ceremony honoring William C.
March, a pioneer in the field of mortuary science, who passed away in
February 2002. More than 40 of March’s family members and friends, as
well as CCBC Catonsville alumni, attended the ceremony near the Stone
Cottage on campus.
CCBC Catonsville President Andrew Jones thanked the March family for
“maintaining the momentum of Mr. March’s educational leadership and
contributions to the field of mortuary science.”
Victor March, chief executive officer of March Funeral Home and William
March’s son, said that his family “could not have thought of a better
tribute in such an appropriate location. Symbolically, the tree
validates his legacy of nurturing others through education,” March said.
Many of March’s family members and employees have graduated from the
Mortuary Science program at CCBC Catonsville, and continue to support
the program by volunteering and providing financial support.
