The Nov. 11 edition of Community College Times published an opinion piece by Bruce Berman, vice chancellor of Institutional Advancement. Berman urged community college leaders to rethink their advancement strategies to focus on private fundraising and to reconnect with alumni. National publications Advances in Practical Nursing (October) and Community College Times (Oct. 14) carried feature articles on the Oct. 7 grand opening of the School of Health Professions Practical Nursing Skills Laboratory on the Dundalk campus. The event also received major coverage in the East County Times (Oct. 16) and the Dundalk Eagle (Oct. 16).

The Baltimore Business Journal listed the School of Health Professions’ Nursing program as the 10th largest professional school in Maryland, moving up a notch from last year.

An Oct. 22 article in the Avenue News quoted Chancellor McPhail regarding tuition increases for the college. An article about the tuition increase also appeared in the Northeast Booster.

The Chronicle of Higher Education (Oct. 31) announced the appointment of Gena Proulx as president of CCBC Dundalk and CCBC Essex in its “Gazette” section.

The Dundalk Eagle (Nov. 5) published a feature article on Marc W. Smith, technical director for CCBC Dundalk Theatre, who has been designing sets and lighting for the Dundalk Community Theatre productions since the troupe formed 30 years ago.

The Sept. 23 edition of the Philadelphia Tribune featured the book How To Talk With Teens About Love, Relationships & S-E-X, written by CCBC Catonsville Psychology Professors Amy and Charles Miron .

An Oct. 6 article in the Baltimore Sun regarding assisting Hurricane Isabel victims contained a quote from Dorothy Coppell, assistant to the chief of Public Safety. Coppell volunteered in a community effort to feed those who were left without electrical power during the hurricane.

The East County Times printed an article highlighting CCBC’s receipt of a $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant will help CCBC strengthen Maryland’s manufacturing sector by establishing the Maryland Center for Manufacturing Educational Excellence.

A quote from Bill Barry, director of Labor Studies, appeared in a Baltimore Sun article regarding the troubles facing retirees of Bethlehem Steel. Barry also served as a guest on WEAA radio discussing the same issue.

The Afro American announced the Javon Jackson jazz event that CCBC hosted to benefit the Center for the Preservation of Baltimore Jazz. This announcement also appeared in the Arbutus Times and the City Paper. WEAA radio also aired an interview discussing the event.

A Baltimore Sun article that looked at inactive nurses returning to their professions featured CCBC student Doreen McLaughlin. McLaughlin took refresher courses at CCBC in order to reenter the field.

The Oct. 23 edition of the Baltimore Sun featured the “Star Parties” at CCBC Dundalk as part of its “Best Bets” for that week’s events and entertainment.

An announcement of Rashida Govan’s appointment as director of Student Activities at CCBC Essex appeared in the “People” section of the Baltimore Business Journal (Oct. 17) and the Eagle Flyer (Oct. 10).

The East County Times published a notice about the CCBC School of Health Professions’ Health Care Open House, held Oct. 18.

Art Scoop (Oct. 29), the weekly online listing of events by the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance featured a mention of the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra.

The Avenue News (Nov. 5) published information on the CCBC Open Houses on the Essex and Dundalk campuses.
