PR Department brings home NCMPR awards, including
‘Communicator of the Year’ CCBC publications earned
silver and bronze Medallion Awards at the district conference of the
National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. Senior PR Director
Mary De Luca was honored as “Communicator of the Year.”
CCBC honored for efforts in workforce development
The Baltimore County Workforce Development Council and the Office of
Employment and Training (OET) honored CCBC and six of its students
during its Ninth Annual Awards for Excellence Breakfast in October.
Upward Bound grant funds student enrichment program
CCBC Dundalk has received a new four-year Upward Bound grant to fund intensive
academic support and enrichment (tutoring, after-school programs and a
six-week summer program) for 50 students attending three area high
schools – Dundalk, Patapsco and Sparrows Point.
Grant program designed to attact women to
technology careers CCBC is the proud recipient of a three-year,
$335,886 grant from the National Science Foundation for the Grace Hopper
Scholars Program in Mathematics and Computer Science.
CCBC celebrates Tech Prep partnership with
Baltimore County Public Schools At a Technical Preparation (Tech
Prep) Executive Council dinner meeting in October, CCBC celebrated its
continuing partnership with Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) in
this workforce development and education initiative, designed to
integrate a variety of influences and strengthen the link between high
school and college.
Environment Project initiatives involve schools
and community As enrollment in CCBC’s Environmental Science
classes continues to rise, the Environment Project continues to expand
with the support of additional grant funding.
CCBC Catonsville hosts ‘AIDS in Africa Today’
Greg Satorie, a 42-year-old American seasoned AIDS activist and himself a
22-year survivor of HIV, shared his experiences and offered insights
during a heart-gripping program on “AIDS in Africa Today,” co-sponsored
by CCBC Catonsville’s Social Sciences department and Office of Student
Life.

Students in CCBC’s Commercial Drivers Licensing (CDL) program are
driving in style while promoting the program with “rolling billboards.”
Grant awards ceremony has a decidedly Greek flavor
As it has become apparent throughout the years, the Grants Office’s annual
awards ceremony is more than just an event to recognize CCBC faculty and
staff who have received grant awards. It is also a celebration of Greek
mythology and language, and an opportunity to meet the hardworking
people behind these important projects.
Employee Giving Campaign again benefits from the
‘Dundalk Difference’ Despite an uncertain economy,
155 faculty, staff and even several students joined forces to contribute
$14,272 to the DCC Foundation’s 2003 Employee Giving Campaign.
CCC Foundation initiates annual fund campaign
Proceeds from this year-end appeal will allow the CCC Foundation to help
deserving students who are in dire need of emergency assistance in the
form of book vouchers, bus passes and other college-related supplies.
CISL focuses on when, where and how best to reach
students In its continuing efforts to help CCBC stay on the
leading edge of student learning theory and practice, the college's
Council on Innovation and Student Learning (CISL) is focusing attention
this year on new teaching strategies that may help students learn, as
well as the assessment of strategies currently in use at CCBC.
