Milford Mill Academy students take a closer look at CCBC
One of CCBC's most successful enrollment management initiatives is "CCBC
Day" at area high schools. This series of recruitment events take place
throughout the year at selected high schools in Baltimore County, most
recently at Milford Mill Academy in December.
Spearheaded by Diane Drake, director of Admissions at CCBC Catonsville,
the events provide high school juniors and seniors exposure to the
academic/career programs and support services offered by CCBC.
Milford Mill Academy is a magnet school in western Baltimore County that
offers a general/college preparatory curriculum and specialized programs
in Allied Health, Rehabilitative and Therapeutic Services, Automotive
Repair Technology, Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Computer Systems
and Network Technology, Information Systems Management, Information
Technology and an International Baccalaureate program.
The wide array of specialized offerings mirror many of the programs CCBC
offers, which made this partnership a very natural – and productive –
one for both CCBC and Milford Mill.
The event receives great support from CCBC faculty and staff who travel
to area high schools to represent academic programs as well as student
support services. More than 250 Milford Mill students visited with CCBC
representatives and gathered first hand information about the college
admissions process, student-led activities, course offerings, financial
aid and more.
“CCBC Days” at other BCPS locations, including Lansdowne, Randallstown,
Sollers Point, Overlea, Chesapeake, Woodlawn and Kenwood high schools,
will take place throughout the spring.
