Sports Teams On a Roll

The Athletics department at CCBC Catonsville is in the midst of an exciting time. The players and teams are getting national recognition and the department hired new coaches to move the sports teams to the next level.

The CCBC Catonsville Women's Lacrosse team continues to prove that they're a major contender with their second title as 2002 Women's Lacrosse National Champions. The team's head coach, Tom Taylor, received the title of National Coach of the Year and student Lauren Whittelsberger made winning the title twice as nice when she was awarded National Player of the Year.

Hoping to continue this winning momentum, the Athletics department welcomes changes to its staff as the teams enter a new season. Staff changes include a new volleyball coach (Ian Blanchard), a men's soccer coach (Glen Harrison) and a new women's basketball coach (Bucky Workman).

Blanchard, formerly a coach at Dulaney High School, led the school to two state championships and an amazing 92-5 cumulative match record. Harrison previously served as the CCBC Catonsville assistant men's soccer coach and Workman formerly served as a swimming, baseball and wrestling coach on campus.
