CCBC Dundalk Welcomes Two New Directors

[Photo caption: Marc Ershler, director of Athletics, Recreation and Camps] Two new faces are welcoming students back to campus this semester as Marc Ershler and Adrienne Summers join the CCBC Dundalk staff.

Ershler is the new full-time director of Athletics, Recreation and Camps, responsible for administering CCBC Dundalk's intercollegiate athletic program, working closely with the coaching staffs to support student athletes, expanding the college's recreation programs and developing and directing camp programs.

Most recently Ershler served as head women's basketball coach and special assistant to the athletic director at CCBC Catonsville, and has also worked as a substitute teacher in the Anne Arundel County Public School System. He holds a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

"It's exciting to be here," said Ershler. "I'm looking forward to working with the college community to inject new life into CCBC Dundalk's athletic programs."

Ershler's first objectives in his new role are to implement athletic program fundraising efforts, establish additional sports participation opportunities for female students, and expand the CCBC Dundalk athletics program's presence on the college's Web site.

Well-respected in the industry, CCBC Dundalk's floral design program educates students who wish to become professional florists, upgrade their current skills, or just experience the art of floral design as a hobby.

Summers' venture into the world of retail floristry began at the age of nine with a 4-H project involving houseplants and dish gardens. Over the years, her interest in floriculture and horticulture grew from a hobby to a vocation. Now, after 18 years of owning and operating her own florist shop in Jefferson, Md. (Frederick County), Summers will share her vast experience in floral design, business management and customer service with CCBC Dundalk students.

"I'm so glad to be able to give back to the industry through teaching," said Summers. "It gives me great satisfaction to cultivate interest in a beautiful field of study that always brings smiles to people's faces."

A graduate of Hood College with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Summers makes frequent presentations at floral design workshops and judges competitions for local 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) groups, participates in trade shows and industry conventions, and utilizes her expertise for the benefit of several charitable and educational organizations.
