CCBC Dundalk Reorganizes Administration
The beginning of the 2002-2003 academic year brings with it a
realignment of the CCBC Dundalk administrative structure. In the new
arrangement, CCBC Dundalk's academic programs will be organized into six
departments under the supervision of one campus dean. The two former
academic divisions - Liberal Arts, Science and Math (LASM) and Career
and Technology (CT) - have been combined into a single academic unit
named Liberal Arts, Career and Technology (LACT) under the direction of
Steve Tanner.
Reporting to Tanner will be department chairmen John Low (English and
Reading), Tom Colonna (Fine and Performing Arts), Chris Mirbaha
(Mathematics), Dave O'Neill (Natural Science), Ira Albert (Social and
Behavioral Science) and Fran Smither (Career and Technology). Alice
Moore and Adam Rogers will provide academic advising services, while
Brenda Fick will remain as director of the Student Success Center.
Student Support Services will continue to operate under the direction of
Barney Wilson, dean of Learning and Student Development. Areas reporting
to Wilson are Co-Curricular Activities (Caroline Scott), Center for
Academic, Career and Life Planning (Wayne Ching), and Library Services
(Mary Landry). Wilson continues to support faculty engaged in curriculum
development, program review, and facilities management and planning.
"This flatter, more streamlined architecture allows for greater
accessibility and time-efficient management and decision making," said
Dr. Gena Proulx, CCBC Dundalk president. "We're challenging traditional
ideas about organizational structure in an effort to improve fiscal
management and better meet the needs of our learners."
