Speakers Series is Best in Baltimore
Those working with the CCBC Essex Spotlight Speakers Series have always
known that they work hard to bring quality, nationally recognized
speakers to the campus. Now all of Baltimore knows. In the July issue of
Baltimore Magazine, the annual "Best of Baltimore" issue, The Spotlight
Speakers' Series was recognized as the Best Speakers' Series in
Baltimore.
The CCBC Essex Office of Student Life presents the Spotlight Speakers
Series, which for several years now has brought prominent national
personalities to campus to share their personal insights with students,
faculty and the community. Some highlights of former Speakers' Series
guests include Dr. Cornel West, professor of Religion and Afro-American
Studies at Harvard University, and Sports Illustrated model Carre Otis.
"The Speakers Series is a way for our students to connect with
successful members of American society," said Kimberly J. Branch, CCBC
Essex director of Student Activities. "Our goal in Student Activities is
to give our students a well-rounded group of options to choose from that
will enhance their experience at CCBC Essex. We are proud that our
Speakers' Series is one of those options."
The success of the Spotlight Speakers Series has been demonstrated with
capacity audiences, extensive community attention and city-wide buzz.
The programming excellence will continue with a new bevy of exciting and
interesting guest speakers. "We set a standard of excellence and we are
working extremely hard to maintain that standard," said Branch.
"Hopefully this season will be even better than before."
This fall, the Spotlight Speakers Series will kick-off with a dynamic
presentation by Marlon Smith, founder of "Success By Choice." With
motivation and inspiration, Smith empowers our global society by helping
people maximize their potential. He will appear on Monday, Sept. 23,
12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the College Community Center Theater. A
reception will follow in the College Community Center first floor lobby.
