COURSE LEVEL ASSESSMENT
A Learning Outcomes Assessment (LOA) Project, as a plan for improving student learning at the course level, begins with measurable statements of what students are expected to know or be able to do upon completion of a course. The college supports both individual and high-impact courses. As the term suggests, high impact projects have the potential to impact student learning for a very large number of students.
For a description of the LOA five project stages, descriptions of project designs, the approval process, proposal templates, and rubric samples - see the Learning Outcomes Assessment Booklet, The Guide for Learning Outcomes Assessment.
The following additional resources are available:
Executive Summaries of completed projects (It is important to note that efforts have been made to ensure reliability and validity for the assessment instruments and appropriate research design protocols have been adhered to for these LOA projects. However, there are variables that potentially could not be controlled. Therefore the information derived from these projects is used to determine trends, not true cause and effect relationships, with the ultimate goal of supporting CCBC's strategic direction of improving student learning.)
