Mission

The Mission of the Black Student Union is to share the historical and cultural heritage African Americans and others of African decent; to enhance the lives of campus constituents and neighboring communities by fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity; and to promote unity among African Americans and other people of African descent.

Purpose

The purpose of the Black Student Union is to foster community and academic growth; to provide a forum to share ideas; and to promote activities that enhance their experiences in the collegiate environment.

How can I join the BSU?

If you wish to join the BSU, you must simply express the desire to the Vice President who is officially in charge of membership for the organization. You may also contact the Office of Diversity and Academic Support in C123. It is expected, should you join the BSU, that you will adhere to the mission and purpose of the organization. Who may join the BSU?

Membership in the BSU is open to all CCBC Essex campus students. Any student who is interested in joining the BSU will not be denied membership because of their race, creed or ethnicity.
