CCBC offers Portal to Foreign Languages and Culture
Baltimore County, Md. – Explore the traditions of Ramadan!
See how well you can speak Chinese! Test your French culinary skills!
Sample authentic Mexican cuisine! Participate in traditional German
holiday festivities!
All of these experiences can be yours through the Portal to World
Languages and Culture Series sponsored jointly by the department of
Reading and Foreign Languages in the School of Liberal Arts and CCBC
Continuing Education and Economic Development Life Enrichment program.
This series of special events is free and open to the public. Space is
limited for all events.

CCBC Professors Seham El Gendi and Soumaya Long
will discuss the Arabic language as well as the traditions of Ramadan,
an important time of year for Muslims. Students from different Arabic
speaking countries will share various aspects of their cultures
including how they celebrate Ramadan.

Yan Brendel, CCBC Chinese language
instructor, will give a brief lesson in Chinese and CCBC Professor and
Communication Arts Department Chairman Tim Thompson will demonstrate Tai
Chi. In addition to a display on Chinese culture, a reception with
authentic Chinese food will be held.
