CCBC features a myriad of special events in February
Baltimore County, Md. – The Community College of Baltimore County is holding a variety of special events throughout the month of February. These events are held on its three main campuses in Catonsville, Dundalk and Essex. Many are free and open to the public. February 2 – 22
The Gallery at CCBC Dundalk hosts a solo exhibition of the works of artist Karen Trimble, Saturday, Feb. 2 through Friday, Feb. 22 in the K Building Gallery on the Dundalk campus, 7200 Sollers Point Road. Trimble’s works are traditional in subject and method. Although she works primarily in oils, she has extended her portfolio to monotypes (“the painterly print”). Color is her driving force. A reception with the artist will be held 7-9 p.m., Friday, Feb 22 in K-106 on the Dundalk campus. For more information and exhibit hours, call 410-285-9794. Free and open to the public.
February 8 – Celebrate Black History Month
Music at CCBC kicks off its spring Music Forum series with tenor Issachah Savage 12:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 in the Recital Hall, Building E, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Savage will perform art songs by African-American composers and Negro Spirituals in celebration of Black History Month. Free and open to the public.

CCBC School of Health Professions hosts information sessions on its credit programs in 14 career areas 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 in H-308 at CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rolling Road. To reserve a seat, call the SHP Office of Selective Admissions at 410-780-6989. Free and open to the public.
February 13 – March 14
The Gallery at CCBC Catonsville will host “Wake: A Grendel’s Mother Exhibition” by artists David Friedheim and Trisha Kyner, weekdays, Feb. 13 through March 14, in the Q Building Gallery on the Catonsville campus, 800 S. Music at CCBC presents CCBC faculty pianist Joyce Hongsermeier at the Music Forum 12:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 in the Recital Hall, Building E, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. She will be performing a repertoire including works by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy and Gershwin. Music at CCBC presents CCBC faculty flutist Dr. Lori Kesner and guest harpist Jacqueline Pollauf at the Casual Concert Series at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20 in the Building Q Lounge, CCBC Catonsville 800 S. Rolling Road. The concert will explore ethnic influences on music from India, Argentina and the Far East. Free and open to the public.

Dundalk Community Theatre presents “Other People’s Money” 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 and 29 and Saturday, Feb. 23 and March 1 and 3p.m. Sunday, February 24 and March 2 in the K Building Theatre at CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road. This funny, serious, suspenseful drama explores what happens when corporate raiders invade a sleepy New England town. It will make you want to stand up and cheer for the little guy. Cirque Voila! – CCBC Performing Arts Fundraiser
Acrobats, clowns, jugglers and more will entertain and amaze you at this family-friendly fundraising event for Performing Arts programs and scholarships 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 1 and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2 in the B Building Theatre at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. For tickets and information, call the CCBC Box Office at 410-780-6369. Cirque Voila! is back by popular demand. A special VIP reception with the artists will be held after the 7 p.m. performance on Saturday.

College Fair 2008, co-sponsored by CCBC and the Baltimore County Public Schools, will feature more than 100 colleges and universities from the Mid-Atlantic region. Free and open to the public.
