CCBC dedicates new Dental Arts building on its Dundalk campus
New facility will house degree program for Dental Hygienists and continuing education program for Dental Assisting students; its clinic will provide oral preventive services for the community, especially underserved populations

Community College of Baltimore County President Sandra L. Kurtinitis, Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith, Thomas M. Lingan, CCBC Board of Trustees chairman, and other dignitaries will cut the ribbon marking the opening of the new Dental Arts Building at CCBC Dundalk.
The new facility houses state-of-the-art clinical areas including a main clinic with 20 dental care areas including a “teaching station” that allows broadcasts to all 20 stations in the main clinic, four radiology suites as well as the classroom, which can accommodate up to 40 students, and a 20-station dental materials lab for teaching “out of mouth” skills.
“Heavily supported by the generosity of county, state and federal funding, the $2M Dental Arts building is a gleaming, state-of- the-art facility designed to host our Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs,” notes CCBC President Kurtinitis. “As of January 2009, it will also serve as a community clinic in which our students can complete their clinical requirements while meeting the dental examination needs of the local community.”
“The opening of this state-of-the-art dental hygiene building and the commencement of the dental hygienist program mark another success for the Community College of Baltimore County,” said County Executive Jim Smith. “The infinite number of opportunities offered by CCBC demonstrates that Baltimore County truly does work for its citizens.”

The new Dental Hygiene program in the School of Health Professions at CCBC Dundalk is designed to prepare students for a career as a registered Dental Hygienist in a variety of health care settings such as private practice or health care institutions. The new two-year, 70-credit full-time program leading to an associate of applied science degree (AAS) in Dental Hygiene will enroll its first 20 students for classes in the fall of 2008. Kathleen J. D’Ambrisi, R.D.H., M.S., is the director of the CCBC Dental Hygiene Program. Carol Eustis, M.Ed., is the dean of the CCBC School of Health Professions.
