CCBC School of Health Professions Professor Robert Solomon named
Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants
Baltimore County, Md. – Robert J. Solomon, MS, PA-C, DFAAPA, a professor in the Physician Assistant Program in the School of Health Professions at the Community College of Baltimore County, has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
According to AAPA, this designation is reserved for those who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their profession, in at least three areas of achievement: distinction in medical practice, education, research or health care management; leadership in medicine or health care; professional involvement; commitment to lifelong learning, or community service. At the end of 2007, only 123 AAPA members in the country had been awarded this designation.
Solomon, a Pikesville,Md. resident, has been on the CCBC faculty since 1977. His areas of interest include cardiology, neurology and nephrology.
The Physician Assistants Program prepares highly skilled health care providers to practice medicine with the supervision of licensed physicians. A collaborative program of CCBC and Towson University Graduate School, it is designed for students who hold a bachelor’s degree prior to admission and prepares individuals with strong academic science backgrounds and clinical experiences for careers as Physician Assistants. Full-time, continuous enrollment is required throughout the 26-month program.
The curriculum is approved by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education of Physician Assistants (ARC-PA). Individuals who successfully complete the program are eligible for certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
