CCBC’s 50th Anniversary Gala raises more than $200,000 to support student scholarships

Baltimore, Md. – The Community College of Baltimore County celebrated its 50th anniversary in style with a sold-out gala at Martin’s Valley Mansion on April 26. Event proceeds went toward student scholarships and exceeded $200,000. It was a great success for the college’s first gala.

“CCBC’s 50th Anniversary Gala was a stellar success,” said CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis. “Not only did we raise $200,000 to support student scholarships, we had a great time doing it. Local businesses, the community and CCBC employees were extremely supportive. The money raised will go a long way toward helping students continue their education.”

During the gala, the CCBC Foundation also announced the winner of the 2009 Toyota Corolla raffle – Jamie Wolff. An Owings Mills resident and nursing student at CCBC Catonsville, Wolff recently lost her vehicle due to a hit and run accident. The new Corolla eases the stress of seeking ways to get to and from classes each day.

The raffle for the Toyota Corolla was made possible through a multi-year partnership between the CCBC Foundation and Baltimore Area Toyota dealers.
