Q: I feel that I need some orientation to WebCT/Blackboard before beginning the course. What options are available?

A: You can get a quick start to online learning by taking advantage of these options:

1. A series of Online Tutorials can be found at http://www.ccbcmd.edu/distance/tutorials.html

2. CCBC "Orientation for Online Learning" is a video program that provides an introduction to online learning and an overview of the tools and functions of a WebCT/Blackboard course. Subscribers to Baltimore County Comcast Cable TV can view this program on Channel 71.

Monday, August 25 2:00 - 3:00 PM
Tuesday, August 26 4:00 - 5:00 PM and 8:00 - 9:00 PM
Wednesday, August 27 11:00 AM - 12:00 noon
Thursday, August 28 11:00 AM - 12:00 noon
Friday, August 29 9:00 - 10:00 PM

3. Students may request a free DVD of the "Orientation for Online Learning" video program. Contact Janet Buckley at 410-780-6551, or email jbuckley@ccbcmd.edu.

(The DVD will only play using Intervideo WinDVD player, which is included on most PC's. If the player is not selected initially, you can launch it from the Start Menu.)

4. The "Orientation for Online Learning" video program is also available on the Web via streaming video. Students with broadband Internet access can view the video by using one of the following links:

5. Face-to-face general orientations to WebCT/Blackboard will be conducted on the Catonsville and Essex campuses. Please continue to check this page for updated schedule information. These sessions are by appointment only. To reserve a seat, choose the session, time, date and location convenient to you, then email jmartin@ccbcmd.edu. Enter "Online Orientation" in the subject line. In your message be sure to include your name, CCBC ID number, and the session you widh to attend.
