CISL Yearly Highlights


2002-2003

Focus: To close the academic gap between minority and majority students and to raise the achievement levels of all students.

Subcommittees:

  • New Faculty Orientation - to develop a mentor program and assessment techniques for the pilot program.

  • Year of the Adjunct - to establish college direction and initiatives for ensuring a high level of interaction and training for adjunct faculty.

  • Student Orientation - to create a CD rom to be used by incoming students that introduces students to the responsibilities and principles of a learning college.

  • Thematic forums - to establish additional means of communicating with faculty and staff through forums on topics such as multiple intelligences, African culture, and life choices.

Additional Activities: 

  • Administration of CISL fairs
  • Coordination of CISL grant projects
  • Creation of student orientation CD rom
  • Piloting of Learning Community for New Faculty

2001 - 2002

  • New Faculty Orientation - to develop an extended orientation to the learning college for new faculty.

  • Year of the Adjunct - to investigate and report on best practices in developing adjunct and to make recommendations for expanding existing programs.

  • Student Orientation - to provide recommendations for improving students' recognition of their responsibilities in a learning college in their orientation.

  • Thematic forums - to establish additional means of communicating with faculty and staff.

 Additional Activities:

  • Administration of a CISL fair
  • Coordination of CISL grant projects.
  • Approval for implementing the CCBC Learning Community for New Faculty
