CCBC DUNDALK BASEBALL LOSES IN REGION XX PLAY
May 11, 2005 - The CCBC Dundalk baseball team closed out
the 2005 season with an 11-7 loss to Chesapeake College in the first
round of the Division II Region XX Men's Baseball Tournament.
Despite falling behind 8-0, the Lions rallied to pull within one at 8-7.
The comeback was short-lived when Chesapeake freshman Anthony Archie
produced a three-run triple to give the Skipjacks an insurmountable 11-7
lead.
CCBC Dundalk entered the tournament third-seeded while Chesapeake was
seeded sixth. Chesapeake had to beat Frederick Community College
earlier in the day to earn the right to meet the Lions. CCBC Dundalk
had beaten Chesapeake twice during the regular season, 6-1 and 9-6.
Eric Reedy was tenth in the Maryland JUCO Conference in hitting
with a .408 batting average. Nick Bowen finished third in home
runs with 9, seventh in stolen bases with 23 and tenth in RBI with 41.
Trent Stambaugh placed eighth in ERA with a 2.86 clip.
