A combination of talented student athletes, quality coaching and outstanding facilities makes athletics at CCBC Essex a unique and rewarding experience. Our athletic teams compete for state, regional and national championships in nine sports. Situated on approximately 147 acres in eastern Baltimore County, Maryland, CCBC Essex is considered to have one of the best intercollegiate athletic programs in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) history. Essex has won nine NJCAA national championships including the 2004 Men's Lacrosse Championship.
As a member of Region XX of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference, CCBC Essex has had over 100 NJCAA All-Americans while also preparing students for future academic and athletic experiences at four-year institutions.
The men's programs compete in soccer, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, and golf. The women participate in soccer, volleyball, cross country, and lacrosse.
ATHLETIC PHILOSOPHY
At CCBC Essex, the goal of the athletic staff is to develop total student athletes - students who can compete successfully both in the classroom and in their athletic endeavors. Our teams frequently finish in the top quarter in their region; numerous players make the all-region teams; and many have achieved All-American status. Many of the sophomore student athletes continue their education at four-year institutions; and some have received academic All-American honors. By promoting the College’s Learning First mission, the Knights’ coaches take pride in representing CCBC Essex with outstanding sportsmanship, numerous victories, and the academic successes of their student athletes.
NJCAA ELIGIBILITY
The eligibility rules for an incoming student at CCBC Essex can be very complicated. Anyone wishing to participate in athletics should contact the appropriate coach or the athletic department for information.
