CCBC and UMBC make transferring a breeze with the Transfer Student Alliance
Guaranteed admission, housing and scholarships are all part of the plan
Baltimore, Md. – The Community College of Baltimore County has created a new partnership with the University of Maryland Baltimore County in the form of a Transfer Student Alliance. The Transfer Student Alliance guarantees CCBC students admission to UMBC, housing and a scholarship.
CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis and UMBC President Freeman Hrabowski will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to solidify this partnership at 10 a.m., Monday, October 27 in the Pullen Room at CCBC Catonsville. The presidents will be joined by students who have already taken advantage of similar programs.
Effective this fall, CCBC students completing 12 credits and having a GPA of 3.2 or better will be eligible to participate in the program. Students accepted into the program will have access to UMBC facilities and campus services (including libraries and computer labs), access to UMBC student activities and the opportunity for concurrent enrollment at a 25 percent tuition discount for one UMBC course per term.
For successful completion a student must complete an associate’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.5, enroll at UMBC immediately or within one year of obtaining their associate’s degree and not matriculate to any other institution of higher education once accepted into the program. Successful completers are guaranteed transfer admission to UMBC, guaranteed housing in an upper class housing community and awarded a $1,500 merit scholarship for each of two years of full-time study.
