CCBC student and graduate featured in Web site and magazine geared toward teens
Be What I Want To Be.com gets teens thinking about careers and what’s needed to obtain them.

CCBC student Daisy Butrim and CCBC graduate Lisa Martin are among the many people featured in the teen magazine, Be What I Want To Be.com. Published as a magazine and also as an interactive teen Web site, Be What I Want To Be.com strives to help the coming generation make career and schooling decisions by providing them with pertinent information while they are in middle and high school.

The goal is to bolster student motivation by highlighting exciting careers and demonstrating what a student needs to accomplish academically to qualify for a great job. Profiles of students and people with successful careers are highlighted throughout giving teens a small glimpse into their lives and accomplishments.

The Web site is used by over 72,000 students across Maryland and approximately 100,000 copies of the magazine are being placed in the hands of eighth and ninth graders.

While several CCBC students are featured on the Be What I Want To Be.com Web site, Butrim and Martin are featured in the latest magazine edition. Butrim is seeking an associate degree in science/chemistry and plans to pursue a career in pharmacy. Martin, who continued her education after CCBC and earned a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, currently owns her own business – Wellness Evolution.
